The history of the village has been shaped by its nearness to
Puerto de Rosario. From 1835 to 1930, Tetir was an independent district, until along with Casillas del Angel, it was annexed to the capital and administered from there.
The sleepy church, dedicated to Santo Domingo de Guzman, is worth looking at. The main Building goes back to 1745, and the tower was competed in 1883. Tetir had its own presbytery from 1777 onwards. The village school is right behind the church, and there is even a parish library. On the plaza, there is a monument to Juán Rodriguez y Gonzalez (1825 - 1893), the founder of an independent Canary Isles banking system, who was born here.
The pride of the little district is Tetir´s terreno, an area for lucha canaria, which was completed in July 1993. And here you can find the only "Dragontree" of the island!
